HAHA saw this advert and started laughing and laughing… probably cos i was a bit hungry too (only my classmates will get it XD) anyways, here it is:

I like this advertisement cos it makes me laugh. Hahahaha. Well, i guess i’ll have to say it achieves its purpose of getting people to stop and look at the advertisement again. The phrase ‘Scratch and win’ is common and will let people think of that kind of scratching off the silver coating on phone cards or some other cards.. where the number beneath will ‘determine your fate’ XD Even so, the simplicity and innocence of the little boy scratching his butt appeals to audiences, especially female audiences with their motherly instinct. The huge pile of paper notes beside the little boy will also appeal more to male audiences (pardon my stereotype), who are more often breadwinners.

The pun achieved through the visual aspect makes the advertisement interesting and memorable. The image of the little boy scratching his butt also conveys the message that with such a simple action, one can win lots of money! It also helps convey the message of how ’instantly’ one can win money, encouraging people to buy the Yellow Pages directory.

Overall, i think this is an effective advertisement!
